Workers at small winery producing the goods

Cheers to winningFrom massive workplaces to small employers – everyone deserves a job they can count on.

And this goes to show, if you work together you can win one – no matter where you work.

United Voice members at one of South Australia’s award-winning wineries have managed to secure improvements in their conditions through negotiations with their employer.

The hard workers at Nepenthe Wines in the Adelaide Hills, where every vineyard worker is a member of United Voice, have managed to negotiate a 3% pay rise every year for three years as part of their brand new Enterprise Agreement.

They’ve won this, and shift work and overtime provisions, without giving up any conditions of employment.

“We work hard and our management know it. We take pride in our work and just get on with doing the job well. That’s why there was mutual respect going into negotiations,” United Voice member Dave said.

Kevin, one of Dave’s colleagues and a United Voice Bargaining Representative, said even in small workforces you can win good pay and conditions.

“In the wine industry there are a lot of small wineries like ours, and we’d like them to know that you still deserve Jobs You Can Count On if you’re a part of a smaller workforce,” Kenneth said.

“You just need to work together.”

And that starts here.
